After many months of planning and building, the $1.4 million renovations to the Forest Nursery and Seed Centre are complete. Managing Director Bob Gordon officially opened the facility on Friday, 18 April at the Nursery near Perth.

As part of Forestry Tasmania’s ongoing commitment to engage with its critics and maintain lines of communication with the public, Dr Hans Drielsma will take part in the upcoming “Forests and Climate Change - Issues in a Tasmanian Context” forum. The event is being put on by Environment Tasmania and will be held at 6:30 pm on Wednesday, 23 April at the Dechaineax Theatre, University of Tasmania (UTAS) School of Art, Hunter St, Hobart.

The Rotary Club of Hobart Annual Art Show has become a prominent event on Tasmania’s social scene. Sponsored by Forestry Tasmania, the show runs from the 9th to the 11th of May and will be officially launched with a cocktail reception on Friday the 9th at 7:00 pm, at the Wrest Point Boardwalk Gallery.
Guests at the cocktail function will have the first opportunity to view and purchase the artwork, will be in the running to win a fabulous door prize donated by Forestry Tasmania, and can take part in a live auction!

24 year old Esther Rubenach, of Gray was presented with Forestry Tasmania’s Regional Initiative Award last Saturday evening (12 April) at the 2008 Southern Cross Young Achiever Awards. Bob Gordon, FT’s Managing Director presented the Award, with more than 400 guests at the Gala event looking on.
Selected from a strong field of nominees, Ms Rubenach is a most worthy recipient, dedicating over 50 hours each week to voluntary service in her community.
