Art and Cocktails – it’s a winning combination!
The Rotary Club of Hobart Annual Art Show has become a prominent event on Tasmania’s social scene. Sponsored by Forestry Tasmania, the show runs from the 9th to the 11th of May and will be officially launched with a cocktail reception on Friday the 9th at 7:00 pm, at the Wrest Point Boardwalk Gallery.
Guests at the cocktail function will have the first opportunity to view and purchase the artwork, will be in the running to win a fabulous door prize donated by Forestry Tasmania, and can take part in a live auction!
The Art Show was established to showcase the work of emerging and established Tasmanian artists and to raise money for charity. Artwork on display includes fine art, jewellery, hand woven baskets, hand-made books, woodwork, glassware and more, and ranges in price from $30 - $2000. There will also be working demonstrations on the main days of the exhibition, Saturday and Sunday, which will be open from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm at the Wrest Point Boardwalk Gallery.
The Art Show coincides with Mother’s Day and entry is free. Combined with high tea at Wrest Point, the 2008 Forestry Tasmania Rotary Club of Hobart Annual Art Show is the perfect Mother’s Day outing.
Last year the art show raised $4500 for charity and this year the Rotary Club is hoping to double it! Money is raised through the sale of catalogues and a 20% commission on the sale of the artworks. The cocktail function is also a great way to contribute through the live auction and ticket sales. Tickets can be purchased for $30 and completing the booking form
