Centre transfer presents opportunity

Ken Jeffreys Corporate Relations and Tourism general manager

FORESTRY Tasmania has now taken over the running of the Forest and Heritage Centre and has big plans for its future.

We intend to make the most of this opportunity and will work with the local community to not only maintain this important piece of local infrastructure but also to upgrade displays and exhibitions to help make it an exciting destination in its own right.

FT is now in the process of finalising the lease with the Huon Valley Council to ensure the long term future of the centre as a bright and re-invigorated interpretive experience.

Forestry Tasmania would like to thank the people of the local community who have run the centre for the past 15 years and played a major role in lifting the economy of the area. They include the centre board, members of the Geeveston Green Jackets, acting manager Mike Wilson and all staff at the centre.

In the meantime it is business as usual. So make sure you drop into the centre where you can also buy tickets for the Tahune AirWalk.
