A GROUP of young people showed their capacity for taking on new challenges when they scaled the rigging aboard the Lady Nelson today.
The youngsters from Tasman District High School soon found their sea legs and learned to work as a team after being shown the ropes with a training and skill development session.
The young sailors got the feel of traditional sailing ship by taking turns at the helm and climbing the rigging to set the sails.
The sail day was made possible by sponsorship of the Sail Training Association through the Forestry Tasmania Community Assist program.
Also on board to see the students off was Lyon’s newest Labor MHA Rebecca White.
