LiDAR in Forests Workshop

Rob Musk, Forest Biometrician

LiDAR in Forests 2010: The second Australian Airborne Laser Scanning in Forestry Workshop will present the latest advances in the applications of airborne laser scanning LiDAR in forestry.

This CRC for Forestry workshop is aimed at forest managers from throughout Australia and New Zealand who are interested in using LiDAR in forest management or who currently do so.

The workshop will focus on data acquisition and processing for forest management applications. It will include state and regional reporting on research and operational outcomes. The workshop will also look at negotiating with contractors, writing appropriate contract specifications and data requirements. A round table discussion on recent outcomes will highlight different approaches to the technology and look at future research directions.

The workshop will be held at the University of Tasmania from 9am-5.30pm on Tuesday April 20. A dinner will follow from 7pm. Workshop fees are $290 ($220 excluding dinner).

A free workshop for CRC members only will be held from 9am-4pm Wednesday April 21 at the same venue. The Project 1.1.3 Research Group will report its findings and lead a practical class on LiDAR data analysis for forest inventory.
