Applications for the 2009/10 Community Assist Program now open!
The Forestry Tasmania and Southern Cross Television Community Assist Program for 2009/10 has now opened. The 2009/10 program will allocate funding through one round only during August.
Community Assist is a joint venture between Forestry Tasmania and Southern Cross Television that assists individuals and organisations who endeavour to make their communities better places to live. Community Assist seeks to provide funding for organisations and individuals that share Forestry Tasmania’s core values of caring for people and their environment, thinking before we act, doing what we say we will do, getting things done and being proud of who we are and what we do.
Over the past two years, the Community Assist Program has allocated thousands of dollars in funding to locally based initiatives, events and individuals. The 2008/09 program saw many inspirational Tasmanian organisations and individuals go on to achieve great things through their sponsorships, including:
- Sixty-nine-year-old Vlastik Skvaril from Tasmania’s north west, completed the ‘Bay to Bay’ run across Australia last year. This year he is at it again, this time preparing to ride a push scooter from Adelaide to Darwin to raise more funds for childrens’ cancer charity CanTeen.
- The Football Federation of Tasmania, which received a major boost to develop its statewide Premier Leagues as recipients of a significant ‘Building State Pride’ sponsorship.
- The Rotary Club of Hobart, which received sponsorship for its annual Charity Art Show, helping it to raise over $20,000. The proceeds from this show will now go towards helping young Tasmanians and locally based projects.
Applications for the Community Assist Program 2009/10 may be submitted under the following two sponsorship categories:
Category One: Care for People (Maximum $1,000)
A series (up to 15) of small grants up to $1,000 to be offered to individuals or organisations undertaking projects with a strong humanitarian focus that benefit their local communities and which are in keeping with Forestry Tasmania’s core values.
Category Two: Pride of Tasmania ($5,000 - $40,000)
Category Two sponsorships are designed to build relationships with key Tasmanian organisations through the development of strategic ongoing partnerships.
Successful applicants will offer large-scale community benefit through contribution to sport, health and wellbeing, science, arts, environment or business.
All applicants will be notified regarding the outcome of their application during September.
