FEF National Forest Learning Centre Open Day

Darcy Vickers

FEF Education Officer

The Forest Education Foundation will throw open the doors to its new National Forest Learning Centre during November to allow Tasmanians to discover the stories behind our trees.

The Open Day will give education providers and members of the Tasmanian public the chance view the learning centre and take part in a range of interactive displays themed around our state’s forests.

The event will feature a variety of exhibits and activities including displays on what is a forest, endangered species, giant trees, forest insects, fire management and forest planning.

To add to the excitement, Heart FM’s Breakfast team Kim and Dave will be on site broadcasting live from the Open Day and running giveaways with visitors to the centre. A complimentary barbecue for all visitors to the Open Day will be held between 11am and 1pm.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to win themselves an adventure filled family weekend in Launceston. The trip includes family accommodation at Quest Launceston and a family pass to undertake a treetop canopy tour at Hollybank Treetops Adventures.

All members of the public, office workers and families are warmly invited to attend the free event which will take place at the National Forest Learning Centre, in the Forestry Tasmania Office on Melville Street between 10am and 2pm on November 13th. School groups wishing to attend need to book with the Forest Education Foundation on 6235 8240.
