Wood Supply Agreements
Protocol for the public release of contracts
Objective:
As Stewards of a public resource, Forestry Tasmania seeks to be open and transparent in its commercial dealings, within the constraints of protecting its commercial interests and those of its customers.
Guiding Principles:
- Standard commercial in confidence clauses to be removed from contract templates.
- Confidentiality clauses to be negotiated for each new contract starting from a base of complete disclosure.
- Contracts (with commercial in confidence material removed electronically) to be placed on the Forestry Tasmania web site for a defined period and then to be available on request from Head Office.
- Where documents are released under FoI, they will be released publicly with an e-mail to media outlets, including the Mercury, the ABC, the Examiner and the Advocate, advising where the documents can be found on the FT web site.
- Contracts shall only be released after consultation and as far as possible with approval of customers, noting that FoI provisions are not dependant on such approval.
