Environment Tasmania report
Forestry Tasmania has noted the release of Environment Tasmania’s report into forestry, Managing Director Bob Gordon said today.
“We note that the full report is not available on the Environment Tasmania website until tomorrow; therefore, it is not possible to make a full response to its findings at this time.
“Forestry Tasmania carries out its functions in accordance with its legislation, which requires a balance between economic and social obligations.
“We manage state forests in accordance with our Sustainability Charter, which balances environmental, social and environmental values.
“It is also important to note that only one half of state forest is available for wood production – the rest is managed for values such as protection of threatened species, cultural heritage protection and clean water supplies.”
