Hollybank Treetops Adventure

Visitors to Tasmania will soon be able to soar through a forest canopy, courtesy of Australia’s first continuous cable tree top tour.

Opening early January 2008, Hollybank Treetops Adventure will offer people of all ages the chance to zip through a forest canopy reaching speeds of up 40 kilometres an hour.

The venture will add to Forestry Tasmania’s stable of soft forest adventure experience – which include the iconic Tahune Airwalk and the exhilarating forest slide at Dismal Swamp in the State’s north west.

Hollybank, located just 20 kilometres from Tasmania’s northern capital, Launceston, has a rich forestry heritage playing a role in the education and training of the state’s forest stewards for more than half a century.

Not only is the site steeped in history, it offers spectacular views across the picturesque Tamar Valley, within easy reach of the renowned Pipers River wine growing region.

Treetops Adventure will take people on a 730 metre journey interspersed with seven Cloud Stations, where participants have a chance to catch their breath, admire the scenery and learn more from guides about the forest around them.

Our Treetops guides will prepare visitors for the tour by going through a series of safety runs before they move across to the cable.

Cable riders will not have to disconnect over the entire length of the course and each leg of the ride will hold something different.

The final leg 40 metres above the Pipers River will be breathtaking.

After two hours in the tree tops, cable riders will walk back to the Visitor Centre through native and exotic forests, for a relaxing drink and snack, a photo opportunity and the chance to share with others the experience of riding the high cable. The whole experience takes three hours.
