Forestry Tasmania Kilburn – it’s official!

DATE 11/04/2008
Forestry Tasmania Kilburn met their sponsors on Thursday night at a function at FT to officially launch the new branding of the Kilburn Netball Club.

Forestry Tasmania Kilburn introduced the new force to be reckoned with in the Tasmania Netball League under 19 competition and announced their Junior Development Clinics for 2008.

The Forestry Tasmania Kilburn under 19’s team was honoured for their achievements in their first games of the season and their positive attitude to training, health and fitness. Many of the girls have been playing with the Kilburn Netball Club since they were in the under 11’s competition. The strong emphasis that Kilburn places on encouraging and nurturing its younger members through the Skills Improvement Program and the Junior Development Clinics has clearly paid off!

The Kilburn Netball Club has worked for many years towards gaining a lease to play in the Tasmanian Netball League and it was clear from the passion with which the Under 19’s coach Sally Williams presented the clubs vision for 2008, that the hard work was worth it.

The Forestry Tasmania and Southern Cross Television Community Assist Program Sponsorship will assist the under 19 team in focussing on training and games through the 2008 season, rather than on fundraising to raise enough money to travel to the games.

The Forestry Tasmania Kilburn women’s master’s team was also present at the launch. The women’s master’s team is working towards the world master’s competition, which is to be held in Sydney in 2009.

Forestry Tasmania Managing Director Bob Gordon congratulated Forestry Tasmania Kilburn on a great start to the 2008 season and presented their club President Melinda Williams with a cheque for $5000.

In other Community Assist developments, Forestry Tasmania Managing Director Bob Gordon will be presenting a cheque for $7000 this Sunday at the New Norfolk Rowing Club masters regatta. The club will use the funds to upgrade the river foreshore and other facilities. In addition, new sheds for the storage and protection of the club's rowing equipment will be erected.
