A family fun day including a series of bike rides on the new mountain bike track and the chance to enjoy a sausage sizzle in the stunning blackwood forest this Saturday 9th January, kicks off an exciting summer of events at Tarkine Forest Adventures.
Tarkine's newly appointed Events Coordinator Carolyn Morine says the day will start at 10am with a ride around the Wombat Trail for kids ten years and under followed by races for the younger teens and then an open race for those 16 and over.
" And we haven't forgotten the mums either - there'll be a ride especially for them when the teens have burnt off some energy.
" Entry to the rides is included in the price of the ticket to Tarkine Forest Adventures - just $10. There's also plenty of bikes available at the site for hire as well."
Carolyn said to make it a real family day, the site will lay on a sausage sizzle providing a chance for people to mingle after their exertions.
Dismal Swamp will be a hive of activity in January.
On Thursday, January 14, there will be a Bush Tucker day with traditional home baked damper served with tea in the forest. To bring the bush heritage to life, good old fashioned poetry will be recited while patrons enjoy billy tea and damper.
On Wednesday, January 20, it's Bush Honey Day, where visitors will be taken into the forest to sample locally made honey and home made honey treats in a Bush Hut, where stories of the honey industry will be recounted. An informative day, especially for the sweet tooths.
There's a real special treat on Friday January 22, when snake handler Mick Thow from All about Reptiles, will be bringing along his slithery friends to provide a close up encounter. This is one you can't afford to miss.
And on Monday, January 25, in association with Sinapius Vineyard, there will be a gourmet barbecue and wine tasting in the "Living Room" on the forest floor.
Carolyn said there's now more reason than ever to make sure Tarkine Forest Adventures is part of you holiday plan.
