Guy Sebastian big hit with fans at forest concert

DATE 19/03/2010

SINGING sensation Guy Sebastian thrilled the audience with his up close and personal acoustic performance which took place in perfect conditions at the Tahune AirWalk on Saturday March 13.

The concert was on the back of Sebastian’s national tour in February which featured auditorium settings such as the Perth Entertainment and Adelaide Convention Centres, QPac Concert Hall, Hamer Hall in Melbourne and the State Theatre in Sydney.

In contrast ticket numbers were strictly limited for the Tahune appearance and the concert at picturesque setting of the Huon Pine Walk was a truly intimate affair.

Before his performance Sebastian spent more than 20 minutes mingling with the crowd, talking to fans and signing autographs and even continued the signings while making his way to the stage.

Sporting a close cropped haircut and looking sleek and sophisticated and at the same time relaxed Sebastian performed for 45 minutes in front of the very enthusiastic crowd.

The set list included the title track of his latest album Like it Like That which he recorded in Los Angeles and New York last year.

The 2003 Australian Idol winner also sang The Art of Love, the latest single from the album and songs from his previous albums including the very popular Elevator Love from Closer to the Sun.

The audience was also appreciative of local indigenous singer/songwriter and Australian Idol contender Dewayne Everettsmith who gave an impressive performance of some of his original music as well as selected covers.

The concert was presented by the Hobart Media Centre.

Tahune AirWalk site manager Tracey Tomkinson said the concert had been a huge success.

“It was a fantastic event,” she said.

“Guy gave a truly wonderful performance and we’re absolutely thrilled at how it all went.

“We have also had some very positive feedback from Huon Valley businesses and we are hoping to make concerts like this an annual event.”
