Discover a world of forest adventures at the Derwent Valley Autumn Festival

DATE 16/04/2010

Forestry Tasmania is delighted to be supporting the Derwent Valley Autumn Festival through its Community Assist sponsorship program and encourages Tasmanian’s to get along to the great festival this Sunday.

Forestry Tasmania has been an active participant in the festival for a number of years and has been impressed by the event's growing popularity.

Forestry Tasmania's Managing Director Bob Gordon said FT jumped at the chance to increase its involvement in the festival when organisers invited it to be the naming rights sponsor.

"The Derwent Valley Council and its festival committee deserve praise for the way the event has been organised and developed over the years.

"It's an honour to be the naming rights sponsor and we look forward to maintaining our association with the event in the years to come," Mr Gordon said.

Forestry Tasmania will not only be a naming rights sponsor this year, but will be one of many exhibitors at the festival, showcasing the new Maydena Adventure Hub. .

Patrons of the festival will have the opportunity to get up close to a Railtrack Rider – a pedal powered rider that propels its passengers along the historic Derwent Valley railway track past picturesque scenery into the rainforest. The two or four seater Railtrack Riders are one of the Hub’s most popular attractions and a perfect way to take in Tasmania’s spectacular surroundings with friends and family.

Visit the Hub’s display at the festival and check out the Trike Hike - another fun way to experience Tasmania’s great outdoors. These reclining trikes allow you to pedal around Maydena’s truly amazing locations at your own pace.

Numerous guided tours, incorporating luxury and adventure, are available at the Maydena Adventure Hub. Meet the friendly guides that will take you on journeys through sub-alpine forests, stands of ancient pencil pines, dramatic cliffs and peaks and even to the place where the last Tassie Tiger was found!

Learn about the range of exciting Olympic style sports, including clay target shooting and archery, that are available at the Hub’s Maydena Adventure Park. Perfect for team building, corporate functions and celebrations, catch up with Lindsay at the Derwent Valley Autumn Festival to find out how the Adventure Park can cater for your next group activity.

Make sure you visit the Maydena Adventure Hub’s site at the Derwent Valley Autumn Festival to discover all the activities on offer for a whole day of fun.
