2010 Community Assist Program

Applications for Community Assist 2009/10 have now closed. All applications for the 2009/10 program received during August are now being considered for sponsorship by the selection committee.

An announcement of successful applicants will be made later this month. All applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application by September 30, 2009.

Community Assist is a joint venture between Forestry Tasmania and Southern Cross Television that assists individuals and organisations who endeavour to make their communities better places to live. Community Assist seeks to provide funding for organisations and individuals that share Forestry Tasmania’s core values of caring for people and their environment, thinking before we act, doing what we say we will do, getting things done and being proud of who we are and what we do.

Over the past two years, the Community Assist Program has allocated thousands of dollars in funding to locally based initiatives, events and individuals and has seen many inspirational Tasmanians gain assistance with their community-oriented projects.

The 2010 Community Assist program has been slightly revised with changes to the scheduling of the application period and a restructure of the sponsorship categories.

The 2010 program will allocate funding through one round only over the month of August. Applications will open on August 1 2009 and close on August 31 2009. All applications must be received during this time to be considered for funding.

The categories for sponsorship have also been reviewed for 2010 and will now be offered through two categories only. The categories will operate as follows:

Category One: Care for People (Maximum $1,000)
A series (up to 15) of small grants up to $1,000 to be offered to individuals or organisations undertaking projects with a strong humanitarian focus which benefit their local communities and which are in keeping with Forestry Tasmania’s core values.

Category Two: Pride of Tasmania ($5,000 - $40,000)
Category Two sponsorships will be designed to build relationships with key Tasmanian organisations through the development of strategic ongoing partnerships.
Successful applicants will offer large-scale community benefit through contribution to sport, health and wellbeing, science, arts, environment or business.

Candidates will need to complete the application process online to be considered for funding.
