Forestry Talks 2011/12
Listed below are the Forestry Talks to be presented by the Division of Forest Research & Development during 2011/12
March 28
Dr Martin Moroni
Topic: Carbon substitution, the real carbon value in forest management
Martin Moroni will review recent work on forest carbon stocks, and suggest that it is the use of forests that will give the best benefits for mitigating climate change
April 18
John Hickey
Topic: Silviculture, certification and social acceptability in central europe-comparisons with Tasmania.

Dr Tim Wardlaw - Principal Research Scientist, Biology & Conservation
Topic: Measuring carbon exchange in the forests of southern Tasmania
Tim reveals how FT will be measuring when forests absorbs carbon, how forests store carbon, and when forests lose carbon, using instruments on top of an 80-metre tower
- September 14
Aidan Flanagan - General Manager, Forests and Forest Industry Council
Topic: Are global biodiversity values threatened by capricious Australian forest policies?
Aidan will discuss how policies supporting the reduction or cessation of native forest harvesting in Australia place pressure on S.E. Asia forest resources
