Less smoke, more energy and cleaner air

Progressive countries are embracing Biomass as a clean renewable and climate friendly alternative to using coal to generate power – and Tasmania is well placed to join the worldwide trend.

Using the waste from sawmills and some of the wood that would otherwise be burnt on the forest floor, it is possible for just one biomass plant to produce sufficient renewable power to meet most of the energy needs of households south of Hobart and may reduce smoke from forest regeneration burns by up to 70 per cent.
