Firewood Permits

Effective from 1 October, 2014

 
Derwent Forest District (midlands and south-east)
 
Derwent District allocates a number of areas where firewood can be collected for personal use. Maps and permits are available from Forestry Tasmania head office at 79 Melville St Hobart, TAS.

Cost is $11 for the standard permit and $5.50 per cubic metre of firewood collected for personal use. Permits are up to one month from date of issue depending on the amount of wood purchased on the licence.
 
Derwent District also offers a Gatherers Permit* (valid for three months from date of issue) for collection of up to 15 cubic metres firewood for domestic use, $44 ($33 pension/concession card holders).

Huon Forest District (south)

Huon District allocates a number of areas where firewood can be collected for personal use. Maps and permits are available from our Geeveston Office, 43 Cemetary Road, Geeveston TAS.
 

Cost is $11 for the standard permit and $5.50 per cubic metre of firewood collected for personal use. Permits are up to one month from date of issue depending on the amount of wood purchased on the licence.

Huon District also offers a Gatherers Permit* (valid for three months from date of issue) for collection of up to 15 cubic metres firewood for domestic use, $44 ($33 pension/concession card holders).

Bass District allocates a number of areas where firewood can be collected for personal use. Maps and permits are available from our Scottsdale Office at Forest EcoCentre, 96 King Street Scottsdale, TAS from the Forest Nursery, 15960 Midlands Highway, Perth TAS 7300.

Cost is $11 for the standard permit and $5.50 per cubic metre of firewood collected for personal use. Permits are up to one month from date of issue depending on the amount of wood purchased on the licence.
