- State forest covers about 22% or 1.502 million hectares of Tasmania’s total land area.
- There are over 5 000 km of roads on State forest. This roading system provides access to remote areas for tourists, bushwalkers and beekeepers.
- As well as the major tourist developments on State forest (such as the Tahune AirWalk, DIsmal Swamp and the Scottsdale EcoCentre) there are about 75 recreation and picnic sites.
- 250 walking tracks on State forest cover a distance of approximately 600 km.
- Currently there are about 30 licensed Commercial Tourist Operators providing guided leisure and recreation activities on State forest.
