Horse Riding

Some areas of State forest are very well suited to horse riding. Our forests are quiet and scenic so even the horses should enjoy the activity.

The excellent road systems within many of our forests means that you can get a car and float into areas where on horseback, this would be lengthy or difficult process.

Old trails and tracks of years gone by lead off main forest roads and provides a pleasant setting for a ride any time of the year.

Many of the better tracks are in the radiata pine plantations, especially on the west coast.

The Tasmanian Trail is the best known long distance trail for horses and much of this trail is on State forest between Devonport and Dover. New loops are being added periodically, so get the updates and the book and enjoy.
