Styx Big Tree Reserve

On the road towards the Southwest National Park World Heritage Area is the turnoff to the Styx Valley.

After visiting the Mt Field National Park and its Tall Trees Walk and Russell Falls, time may permit a visit to the forest and tall trees of the Styx Valley.

Located some 15km from the main road is the Big Tree Reserve.

This reserve contains some of the tallest hardwood trees on earth.

Since the creation of the reserve back in the 50's the trees have been shrinking due to age and natural forces.

Forestry Tasmania is committed to protecting tall trees and potential tall tree sites for future generations.
