“Hi, I'm Shannon, during the summer of 2011 as a bursary student with Forestry Tasmania, I took the challenge to visit Forestry Tamania's 52 visitor sites.
Meetus Falls is located just 10km along McKay's Road from Lake Leake Information Booth.
The day I went up it was quite foggy, I'm not sure if this is was just a one off, or if it is always like this up here but it definitely gave it a nice touch, and made for some great photo opportunities. However, the fog did make it difficult to see any great distance in front of me, and the road is windy so I would recommend taking it slowly if you don't know the area; especially as log trucks do operate on these roads.
Signs along McKay's Road guide you into Meetus Falls car park. There are adequate facilities including a picnic shelter with tables, and an open wood fire. There are also toilets, however they are compostable and bringing your own toilet paper is highly recommended.
There are two walks to take while here, and the paths are well established making it an easy trip for most people.
The first is the Falls Lookout, which is lovely (even in the fog when you can't see much)! There are a few stairs which take you down the lookout, and from here you can see the long distance from which the water falls over the rocks, making Meetus Falls look magnificent.
Also, Cygnet River Lookout forks off from the Falls Lookout track. This takes you down hill, and under the falls lookout, to give you a different perspective on the waterfall, and show you the water body which is formed from Meetus Falls.
On my walk back to the car, the fog and dew had settled on some spider webs which highlighted how delicate and intricate they really are. I tried to take a picture but it didn't quite work out how I had planned, so you'll have to look for yourself.
