Teepookana Huon Pine Experience

On the plateau above the King River near Strahan is Teepookana.

Now accessed from Strahan by the West Coast Wilderness Railway (ABT Railway), helicopter or the Wild Rivers Jet Boat. From Lower Landing near the Iron Bridge a steep track climbs up to the plateau to access the Teepookana Huon Pine Experience.

A boardwalk winds through ancient Huon pines to a viewing tower with commanding views over the plateau, mountains, Macquarie Harbour and Southern Ocean. From the tower the track continues through an area of salvaged Huon pines and consequent regeneration program.

This fascinating history of the early piners leads to a piners hut, a way of life long since vanished.
